These things happen in every society, its not something special. Nor is it a deterioration of civil society . This is an individual act of one individual. Cannot blame the whole society for this.

hettiarachi- We do not want society to go down to the archaic stone age laws as in KSA. We have come a long way from that. No doubt the culprit would be tried by a jury of his peers in a court of law and the correct punishment under the law meted out. We dont need public beheading and crucifying in public or cutting of limbs etc., & other barbaric punishments.

a sad reflection of the times....we have seen an escalating level of chaos in this country and sadly no one seems to care anymore.....the slide into total anarchy has began...and yet we do nothing.....

    Rasa Monday, 03 September 2012 12:37 PM

Looks stupid and difficult to understand. This is the result of an almost a true love affair which failed i.e. one did not fully understand the emotions of the other. Sad.

You say saudi law is barbaric. now u go and ask the girl of the parents, what punishment should the government give to the culprit..of course they will say CAPITAL PUNISHMENT!!..is this not a practical law????

peeda mossa Monday, 03 September 2012 11:41 AM

To make the society righteous we need both ' Ana' (law ) and ' Bana ' (preaching ). Preaching, we do have in ample proportions, but law...? Well, justice and punishment must be swift as in Mid-East countries.

We pride ourselves of having 2600 years of culture but still we seem to heading back to the dark ages. Religion has taken a back seat with monks more interested in their own political aspirations than spiritual welfare of the people.

Im-proper parenting is the main reason behind all this. Either parents do not set good examples, not spending enough time with children, going for overseas employment leaving kids on others hand... you name it. We have lost the most important moral values and the leaders are no good examples of same. Future generation is gone.

    rajiv d Monday, 03 September 2012 10:33 AM

This is the Ashchariya we are witnessing now. Where is moral values? Kill if you can't get what you want is what every one is following now. Elimination is the key
