Yoshitha condemns cop assaulting lorry driver

Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and former naval officer, Yoshitha Rajapaksa today condemned the police brutality on a civilian in the middle of a busy road which has sent shockwaves throughout social media.

Yoshitha in a tweet said he was shocked to see the police officer mercilessly beating the man on the busy road, over an accident.

"Uniformed men hold the responsibility of protecting and safeguarding civilians, not being a threat. I am in touch with the authorities and will ensure justice is meted out," Yoshitha said.
