Week long operation to track down criminals; Minister

A week long country-wide operation would be carried out to apprehend criminals and those involved in drugs trafficking, peddling, underworld activities and extortion, Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera said today.

He said the operation is expected to be carried out soon with the participation of Police, STF and the Army.

The Minister said at a press briefing that he anticipates public assistance to conduct such operation in order to  net the perpetrators.

    If such culprits can be rounded -up within a week, one wonders the progress in the investigations regarding rouding-up of Arjun Mahendran and a one-time former Ambassador of Sri Laka to the USA who are still at large and absconding arrest but the latter being a nepotism man, there would be no further investigations.
