UNHRC Convention: Tamil Diaspora protest JO representation

The Tamil Diaspora in Switzerland has held several protests against the joint opposition (JO) delegation attending the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Convention in Geneva.

Speaking to Daily Mirror from Geneva, JO member former Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara said several persons from the Diaspora community in Switzerland scoffed at him during an event he took part in.

“They accused me of war crimes. Most of the locals living in Switzerland were disturbed to see us. They even grilled the UNHCR officials as to why we were entertained as a part of the convention,” Mr. Weerasekara said. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)

Dear Sir,You are the one and only Serviceman who came forward to reveal the truth. I salute you as a Sri Lankan citizen who has been severely disturbed due to the malicious acts of Tamil Diaspora. This sort of action has to be done by the State Officials but unfortunately, they are faster asleep. They want to safeguard their positions and do not concern about the country. Nobody else can do the work that you have done because you have a first-hand experience.These heartless Wealthy Tamils who live in a developed country make attempts to break a pearl in the Indian Ocean. They don't understand how unreasonable it is and-and they are fundamentalists.Our valiant soldiers tried to crush the Terrorist-movement and not wipe out any set of a community. This should be understood by everybody. Framing wrong pictures to the International community, wealthy-Tamils try to destroy our motherland. These LTTE Tamil diaspora seem to be a disgrace to the Tamil community. What have they to do with who attends the UNHRC meetings? They have nothing to do with this organisation, except try to make everyone feel they control anything and everything there. Shame and disgraceful.MM
