Two die after being trapped in gem mine

Two persons have been reported dead after being trapped in a gem mine at Weralupitiya in Avissawella last night, Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

The power supply to the mine was interrupted due to heavy rains and the two persons who had entered the mine got trapped inside.

The bodies are kept at the Avissawella Hospital, DIG Rohana said.

He said that investigations will be carried out to ascertain the cause of death of the two aged of 44 and 45.(DSB)
