Two cases with new COVID-19 strain located in Meerigama

Two patients infected with the new strain of  COVID-19 were reported from the Meerigama area yesterday, area Medical Officer of Health said.

Area Public Health Inspector Nishantha Somaratne said the patients were identified after the PCR tests at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital.

The two patients are from Pasyala and Pallewela areas and it has not yet clear as to how they contracted the new strain of virus.(Pushpakumara Mallawaarachchiil)

    The General who heads the Covid task force and the jokers of the health ministry said the new strain has been detected only in one person .. now let's see what they come up with

    The new strain has to be identified after gene sequencing at SJU labs. The PCR test does not identify the new strain. Who is being fooled? The health care people or the journalists?
