Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s wife Shiranthi and son Yoshitha had been asked to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) this week to record statements in connection with a defender jeep which had been allegedly used to provide protection to a VIP after it was given to the Siriliya Saviya Foundation by the Red Cross Organisation in 2011.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said Ms. Rajapaksa was asked to report to the CID tomorrow (15) while Yoshitha had been asked to report on Wednesday (16). (Darshana Sanjeewa)

This is just a ball passing game to coverup the embarrassment left off by RK....

    AjithZ Monday, 14 August 2017 02:47 PM

What's the status of previous investigations? No point bringing them to FCID or any other place if the charges are not going to be carried forward. MR helped PM during the crisis in UNP (ie. Carpeting the road in front of Sirikotha), now his turn to help MR and the family. You scratch my back, I'll scratch your back. These leading politicians are all friends and take people for a ride.

These are of course trivial cases. How about the massive corruption and murder of Thajudeen summoning??

    BuffaloaCitizen Monday, 14 August 2017 03:08 PM

What about Daisy Archie who has the ability to locate hidden gem stones in her own garden.

    shanthapriya Monday, 14 August 2017 03:12 PM

Just look at the seriousness of the allegation compared to the state of the country during war time

    TIT FOR TAT

    Mandy Monday, 14 August 2017 03:34 PM

Why suddenly pull out this? with the bond scam happening, bank robberies, murders, fraud and corruption country is going haywire and the govt suddenly decides to take the Rajapaksa's to court? Yahapalanaya is just full of bull they always seem to find a scapegoat to cover their idiocracy. God help us.

    dulan Monday, 14 August 2017 08:16 PM

Absurd wasting time of the FCID etc on such small things when these people looted and killed

    citizen Monday, 14 August 2017 08:30 PM

this time no cock and bull stories murders and culprits should go behind bars

    Sambo Monday, 14 August 2017 08:41 PM

Please don't make the public look stupid by taking such action. Every day they are called to the FCID is an eye wash and nothing happens. We know the education level of our rulers but please remember the entire nation is not stupid as you think.

    Ben Monday, 14 August 2017 11:20 PM

Yes we have to make them frewe of all the aqusations. So get the casees going on a day to day basis without putting off for 3 or 6 months. Also you can give them bail but put them under house arrest.. This will also help their lawyaers to meet them and fix the trials on a day to day basis. If not when on bail they will go on holiday and wait for them to come back.PUT THEM UNDER HOUSE ARREST

    Ben Tuesday, 15 August 2017 12:01 AM

When they appear do not let them go away for 6 months on bail, Please help them to finish the cases soon, So keep them undwer house arrest.Even book them into state expense. so we can see an end to this alligations.

    ED Tuesday, 15 August 2017 04:38 AM

IT'S TIME THAT THEY CAME AND FACE THE REAL TRIAL. THEY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO PREPARE THEMSELVES. IT IS SHAMEFUL TO SEE SUCH FORMER REGIME FAMILY MEMBERS GET INVOLVED IN SUCH CRIMES. THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO HAVE THE DOMINO EFFECT, WHERE ONE BY ONE FROM THE LAST REGIME BROUGHT TO FACE JUSTICE!

Calistus Jayatilleke Tuesday, 15 August 2017 05:54 AM

It is high time these corrupt Rajapakse family members are prosecuted and punished for all their misdeeds during the past regime.

Ronnie Bugger Tuesday, 15 August 2017 11:32 AM

Good, it will give then some time to stretch their legs.
