A team of senior police officers have moved the Supreme Court against the appointment of  Bimsani Jasingharachchi as the DIG in charge of welfare, the first woman to hold such a high post in the police service, Daily Mirror learns.

Jasingharachchi was appointed to the post by the National Police Commission earlier. However, a team of senior police officers aggrieved by this appointment had petitioned the Supreme Court against it.

The case will be heard tomorrow. (Kelum Bandara)

So !!! what is wrong if a female holds the post as a DIG. The senior officers should be each given a kick up their rear and ask to get out.

    Disgusting MEN

Narrow mindedness Monday, 15 February 2021 05:35 AM

Don’t these senior officers have better things to do? Sri Lankans are so narrow minded that they fail to understand and accept that the world has changed. Women’s empowerment has long before taken place and women do a diligent job in whatever they do in developed countries. No wonder Sri Lankan is still a third-world country.

How can these so-called leaders respect each and every citizen if they are not willing to respect a duly appointed leader from their ranks, just because it happens to be a woman? Wake up! It's 2020.

In USA, vice president is a lady and that's ok with everyone...we also had a lady President...so what is the issue here??????, until we go pass this mentality we are doomed...If she is good at the job, that's what counts..

    Sandy Monday, 15 February 2021 07:47 AM

It may be due to seniority issues
