It would take at least another one month to bring the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster under control, Dr. Hemantha Herath, Deputy Director General (Public Health) said yesterday.
Speaking to media, he said considering the situation at present, the situation where cases were being reported in hundreds would prevail for another one and half weeks.
“Accordingly, the cluster would be completely cleared in another six weeks,” Dr. Herath said.
However, he stressed that it is absolutely pivotal to maintain the same momentum of the health, security officials and the general public.
Referring to the reports circulated on social media that the Health Ministry is passing the responsibility of a spike of Covid cases to the people, he emphasised that they have not evaded the responsibility but have been working hard to contain the virus in the country.
Meanwhile, Dr. Herath said the number of Covid-19 cases being reported in the country has comparatively declined.
“This does not mean that a higher number of cases would not be reported in future. However, as far as the current scenario is concerned, the number of cases has somewhat decreased.
He also said positive cases had been reported from unexpected areas. Thus, if this situation increased, there may be a possibility to experience a surge in cases,” he underlined.
In addition, Dr. Herath said there are over 1000 beds in 49 hospitals still vacant to treat Covid-19 patients.
“The number of remaining beds can fluctuate with the detection of fresh Covid cases,” he added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Doctor with due respect to your knowledge don't you think giving time lines is what made us lose focus ? Remember you live in Sri Lanka where the level of primitive thinking is such that your minister dumps Voodoo pots into the river. So please don't give time lines that you yourself cannot justify to the public

If that can be done it is a great achievement. Our Country is undergoing this pandemic due to the irresponsibility of our Government and the concerned authorities. Still they are fooling the public saying no community spread. May be the affected must have fallen from the sky.
Gamage Wednesday, 04 November 2020 07:54 AM
This assumes there is no community transmission. How true is that assumption?
Lal Wednesday, 04 November 2020 08:25 AM
YES SIR! You’re absolutely correct. It will take another three months. You can still read world wide news. Our health minister. M. !! She was started from end of March on no more coronavirus!!!!! You can read her all about this virus. She was very far away from knowledge about Virus. Thanks

Please don't use idiotic statements such as "completely cleared in another six weeks", this shows the level of incompetency and unprofessionalism in Sri Lanka's educated such as you. This is a pandemic affecting the whole world
Dr.Siri Wednesday, 04 November 2020 09:31 AM
Being so knowledgeable, if you had advised the authorities for a two week total lockdown of Srilanka when the very first case of Brandix was detected all these miseries could have been avoided

Is it not a mad decision to let the positive cases to go home after 10 days without a 2nd PCR test. You are trying to save PCR kits, where as about 1500 PCR kits have expired. This is ridiculous.
Bernard Wednesday, 04 November 2020 10:44 AM
We cannot trust the authorities anymore as the government boasted that they had contained the COVID -19 at the time of the elections but what has happened now. So don't ame the people now!
Jehan Wednesday, 04 November 2020 11:14 AM
It’s in the community as gots failed. Muttiamma failed. All monks failed. Accept it, and deal with it. Declassifying China virus deaths as others won’t help.More people have died than the official figure. We are not living in China ccp. We know.
Dr.Siri Wednesday, 04 November 2020 04:12 PM
402 cases yesterday
