595 SIs, WSIs promoted

A total of 595 Sub Inspectors (SI) and Women Sub Inspectors (WSI) have been promoted to the position of Inspector of Police (IP) with effect from May 31, Police Media Division said.

It said the promotions were made by the National Police Commission (NCP) following the recommendations made by IGP Pujith Jayasundara.

Among promoted are 56 WSIs.

According to the police, the officers have not been promoted for a very long time. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)

Why there is a designation by gender?If there are WSIs others should be MSIs.

This should be an annual event, then only ,morale of the efficient officers could be boosted .in addition to the promotions, there should be other rewards to the good officers to recognise their dedicated, loyal service.

People working in the civilian sectors do not have so many ranks and they remain mainly where they started to do the work for many years and then get one or two promotions and retire quietly.But when it come to uniform jobs, in addition to so much power they enjoy we have followed British and created so many artificial ranks to to keep their egos going.We should stop all these and, for example in police, just be able to mange with just four ranks; Constable,Inspector,Superintendent,and the IGP.
