President’s expenditure passed without a vote

More than 20 expenditures heads, including the President’s allocation, was unanimously passed without a vote today amidst anxious moments.

The situation became tense as UNP backbencher MPs stated time to time during the debate that they would not approve billions of funds for President Sirisena because of the decision he took on October 26, 2018.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and Leader of the House, Lakshman Kiriella, said there is no need for a division though UNP MP Chaminda Wijesiri called for the division. Speaker said he would note the objections. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
