The Court of Appeal today issued summons on the members of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) for Contempt of Court over non registration of medical graduate of the SAITM.

President's Counsel Romesh de Silva PC with Counsel Sugath Caldera Shanaka Cooray and Counsel Niran Ankatel appeared on behalf of the petitioner, Dhilmi Kasunda Suriyaarachchi. (Shehan Chamika Silva, Farook Thajudeen)

Court cant force SLMC to give registration for SAITM.If court can decide who will get registration for any country not only sri lanka why we need regularly body called SLMC.This is a bullshit decision by court . This is unethical overuse of court power.

The Constitution of Sri Lanka gives the Supreme Court the full power to make the decision. The judiciary is the pillar of democrary that is empowered to interpret the law (the other two been the "legislature" which is empowered to make the law and the "executive" which is empowered to administer the law)

The matter that has to be sorted out is whether the Supreme Court decision is applicable only for this petitioner or it is a decision on principle that ALL SAITM graduates is eligible for registration by SLMC after graduation. The answer is equally important
