The Military security provided to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been completely withdrawn, the joint opposition said.
MP Udaya Gammanpila said 54 military personnel out of the 104 military security detail had been removed yesterday.
“Another 25 were asked to report to the Army Head quarters today and the remaining 25 were asked to report to headquarters tomorrow,” he said.
He said if anything were to happen to Mr. Rajapaksa because of lack of security, the President should take responsibility. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

Rajapaksa doesn't require security to visit temples with a view to topple the government. The security provided by the Sri Lanka Police is adequate at all.

His worry is not about LTTE threats, but public reaction tomorrow about all the rackets he carried while in power. The public gave him his first punishment on the 8th Jan. When all his final notorious acts are known, only god can protect him.

If the President and the Prime Minister of the country doesn't have Military Personnel in their security contingent, why must a defeated former President, who's only intention is to sabotage all Govt. activities. He should be given security, adequate only to lead a normal life like any other former President. Not more, not less. Also must keep in mind that he's a defeated former President not retired.
