The Court of Appeal today issued an order directing the Acting IGP to implement the law requiring licences for the transportation of sand, soil and clay, as before.
Court of Appeal Justice (President) A.H.M.D. Nawaz, and Justice Sobhitha Rajakaruna made this order consequent to a writ petition filed by Center for Environmental Justice and its Executive Director Hemantha Withanage.
The petitioners have cited 19 parties including Minister of Environment S.M. Chandrasena and Acting IGP as respondents.
