Sri Lanka's 25-year-old Lahiru Kumara has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been dropped for the West Indies tour.

"All other players tested negative and the tour will go ahead as planned,” sources said.

“We conducted PCR tests 72 hours apart and Lahiru was negative in the first test. However, the tests which were conducted on Sunday were not favourable to him", the source added.

Kumara will be isolated immediately and sent to the Nawaloka Hospital's intermediate care centre.

Kumara has played 22 Tests, 13 ODIs and 7 T20Is and was selected in squads for both limited over and Tests legs of the Windies tour.

The team is leaving via USA tonight for Antigua.

"No family members are allowed to travel with the team", the source also confirmed.

The team is scheduled to play 3 T-20Is, 3 ODIs and two Tests on this tour.

What happened to that bubble? What a tragedy. Others not affected? Please drop Kusal Mendis as his technique is poor to cope with the bouncy ball, well over the stumps, in South Africa and understand when the ball is pitched on outside the leg stump to use the pad as far as possible, unless short. Roshan Silva must be elected as he showed and proved his test quality, before as he got immense patience as that is what TEST cricket is all about. Oshada Fernando, too must get some more opportunity, as Kusal. Hope Thirimanne will be ready for the tests, along with Lahiru.
