Karu endorses proposal by opposition parties to reconvene parliament

Former Speaker of Parliament, Karu Jayasuriya, said today that he endorsed the proposal made by the parties in the opposition to reconvene the Parliament. "Opposition parties’ joint letter requesting the President to reconvene the Parliament is timely and well-intended. As the Speaker of the dissolved Parliament, I endorse this proposal. If reconvened, that Parliament's Speaker should be the guardian to ensure its constructive role," he said in a tweet.

Good. As Srilanka is a democratic country, it should be ruled and governed by the Parliament. Not by the military.

Proposal made by the parties in the opposition already confirmed the President by writing that he is doing a good job and they will support him. Why then to re- convene this old parliament ? People were reluctatly compelled to look for a democracy which is guided by a strong leadership. Democracy not to be trampled under the guise of parliament consisted of dis-honest law makers.
