Responding to various reports, State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene said he has been provided with 10 security personnel and two backup vehicles.
"As the state Minister of Defence, I am provided with 10 (six per shift) security personnel and two backup vehicles. I have always used my personal vehicle to travel and have not taken up any official residence," he said.
In a statement, he further said he was joined by a host of security personnel, religious and political leaders when he undertook an inspection tour of Minuwangoda on May 15.
"There were security personnel of senior military personnel and others who were present there and all the security personnel were in no way a part of my security contingent,'' he said.

It is appropriate that the State Minister clarified the matter. Some of these rebel monks have turned out to be the worst rumor mongers inciting like minded masses.

This sends a good message to the so called Ministers to behave more human like. Many use the enhanced security as a statement of honor. They should realize it only works the other way and stop misuse of public assets.
