The Police Marine Division has launched a special search operation this evening in the Kelani River from Modara to Hanwella to trace the severed head of the woman who was murdered at a guest house in Hanwella by a Sub Inspector of Police.
The decapitated body of the 30-year old woman from Kuruwita found stuffed in a bag and left at Dam Street in Colombo on March 1.
Later it came to light that the woman was lodging with the SI at a guest house in Hanwella where she was killed. The SI was serving at the Buttala Police Station.
The murder was as a result of an illicit affair with the deceased woman.
The suspect had severed the head of the victim and stuffed the headless body in a suitcase and left it at Dam Street.
However, the police had neither found the head of the woman nor her bag.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the guest house is in the vicinity of the Kelani River and the investigators suspect the perpetrator might have thrown the head of the woman along with her bag into River.
Meanwhile, he said the DNA samples have been taken from the woman's mother and relatives to identify the body.(DSB)

Those having an illicit affair either male or female will develop a daredevil attitude. That would come out when something goes wrong somewhere.

Why he had to kill her when there are so many other options? There are crocks in the river and would have eaten it.
