Secretary-General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake has informed the Chairman of the Election Commission that the MP post of UPFA Galle district Parliamentarian Geetha Kumarasinghe has been annulled in line with the Court of Appeal verdict.

The Court of Appeal on Wednesday (3) ruled that Ms. Kumarasinghe was disqualified to be a Member of Parliament on the basis that she holds dual citizenship

May be now is the time for all the others who are disqualified with the application of this law to tender in their resignation before they are hauled before court and kicked out ..for this involves un wanted use of public funds for lawyers ..and unwanted time of the law courts to decide on a situation that should not have happened

The Judgement in the case of Geetha Kumarasingha by the the Court of Appeal and that of the Secretary General of the SL Parliament is sending out a strong message to all those who consider entering the Parliament not with a strong commitment to dedicate time, energy, skills and knowledge for the welfare of the people who are voiceless tand marginalised therefore depend on their local MP to air their grievances through the Parliament which is the Supreme Law making authority. Gettha Kumarasingha may have used her popularity as an actress to become a MP, but doesnt mean she had worked or fully committed to work for the country, therefore she must realise she cannot fool all the people all the time. Geetha tried to put all the apple in basket or to try an win both worlds. Unfortunately no one can serve two masters. You must be loyal to to your motherland at any cost. No pain no gain.

I think Geetha's folly is that as a dual citizen and MP, she only stole a few hearts and not Billions from the country like the ex CB governor, dual citizen, insider trader and master thief.

Remember, she needs to return to the nation all emoluments obtained from the State (public money) during this period of time. All other persons with dual citizenship also need to be identified and kicked out.
