Samagai Jana Balaweguaya MP Patali Chamika Ranawaka today said the Aryuvedic syrup which is claimed to be a cure for COVID- 19 should not become a drama which will mislead the people.

MP Ranawaka told a press conference that the syrup should be approved as a cure for CIOVID- 19 only after a proper testing by a recognised Aryuvedic medical body. “There is a recognised body responsible for regulating Aryuvedic treatment in Sri Lanka. Such a body should carry out testing of the syrup and then approve the distribution instead of creating a drama,” the MP said.

“We have also information that airports are going to be opened and promote medical tourism to attract foreigners. Things such as these should not be done in a haphazard manner,” he deed.

“Sri Lanka had already faced a drama, a few decades ago where it was promoted that people could improve their physical looks by consuming the medicinal drink ‘Wadakasudiya’ during the 1956 solar eclipse. Many consumed this drink and ended up in hospital. The last thing which Sri Lanka wants now is such a drama," he aid.

He also said there was no necessity to promote cures for COVID- 19 as only 0.5 percent fatalities had been reported in Sri Lanka as a result of the disease, according to the available data.

He said it is more practical to get down the globally recognised vaccines and distribute it locally.(Yohan Perera)

Syrup will be a good business for a few, U NO HOO?

sacre blieu Monday, 14 December 2020 09:05 AM

Sure. The group that is keen on promoting this has jumped the border with the help of those in position and to create a fad in this drink, the rewards to be shared by a few. There is a doctor who is not a qualified to practice ,and promoted as a miracle doctor, on unjustified grounds. There is no more talk or discussion about the miraculous cure of acupuncture anymore?

    Sunil Monday, 14 December 2020 09:21 AM

This is the greatest farce since the "wadakaha sudiya".

U are also responsible for the Buddhist racism which has gone into overdrive with a poison medicine which will kill the Buddhist.

    Fathma Monday, 14 December 2020 01:29 PM

So you endorse the globally recognized COVID vaccination, but not the World Health Organization's ruling on burial rights of the dead COVID patients. Banana republic indeed!!

    Niz Monday, 14 December 2020 01:33 PM

This certainly would be an export money making booster and for the first time may be able to win the forthcoming Nobel Price for Medicine.

Ayurvedic Syrup drama is better than your political drama.
