The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) today requested all retail pharmacy owners not to issue Chloroquine or Hydroxychloroquine without a valid prescription from a Specialist Medical Officer. NMRA Director General and CEO Dr Kamal Jayasinghe said any person who contravenes this directive or the advice would be considered as having committed an offence and shall be triable under section 131 of the NMRA Act no 5 of 2015. Meanwhile, Drector General of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe requested the general public not to go looking for Chloroquine. He said Chloroquine should be taken under instructions of experienced doctors because it could result in various complications. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
The GMOA are fooling the Sri Lankan public as if these are their own work, actually the doctors in America and Western Europe were pondering for sometime about these two medicines in the absence of a cure. Neither doctors nor anyone else any wiser about this treatment. So prescription from a medical officer is not any guarantee at all. Our Survival depends Only on Scientists finding a cure.

Why did the medical specialist suggest this and the GMOA submit and the article get published? This should never have been brought to the notice of the public and kept confidential especially at a time like this.

GMOA are not happy unless they are in the Headlines all the time. This is utter stupidity. This is not a proven cure for Covid-19.

In the USA it has reports indicate that it has been approved only for testing by relevant medical authorities. The US President should take responsibility for global confusion created by speaking about it before the test results were known.
