Denying the media reports that there would be travel restrictions in areas where the new variant was detected, Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control State Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle said the health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and actions would be taken accordingly.

She told Daily Mirror that there won’t be any extra measures though a few cases of new variant had been identified in the country.

“The Epidemiology Unit is monitoring these new cases very closely. Whenever there new clusters of cases, the movement are restricted,” she underlined.

“The measures that we have been taking would be implemented when the number of cases increases whereas there won’t be extra restrictions,” she added.

The State Minister also reiterated that the reports, which say that the country would be placed under lockdown are not correct. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Dear Minister, When would the new restrictions be needed then? When the new variant is also gone out of control? What a clownfest this has become now.

Containment by lockdowns has been prove4d to be a good solution. Our stupid politicians do not want to learn from [email protected] experiences, because they like to think they are boldly

This is exactly what that idiot Trump said last year when the first corona case was detected in the US. He didn't want to crate a panic. US would have had lot less deaths had he created that so called panic initially.

Madam, please learn lessons from the experience of other countries. Necessary action should be taken to contain this new virus though it is unpopular otherwise the common people have to pay dearly.
