Body of schoolgirl recovered from Upper Kotmale Reservoir

The body of a 16-year old school girl which was floating in the Upper Kotmale Reservoir was recovered today, the police said.

According to the Talawakele Police, the area residents had seen the schoolgirl jumping from the railway bridge ino the Upper Kotmale Reservoir this morning.

The schoolgirl, a resident of Talawakele was a Grade 11 student of the Talawakele Tamil Maha Vidyalaya. Police suspect a dispute with her mother would have led the girl to take her life away.

The body would be taken to the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital for post mortem. (Ranjith Rajapaksa)
