Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, complimented PHIs on their untiring efforts, being made across the country hand in hand with all stakeholders for the eradication of COVID-19 pandemic from the country.

He said this during a special meeting held this afternoon (20) at the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

"I know that you on ground work dedicatedly against heavy odds and difficulties and the NOCPCO assures that it would do everything possible to redress any concerns in terms of your technical support, strategic issues or any other profession-related needs since you all are well versed in such health challenges and responsible for specific ground locations,” the Army Chief told PHIs.

“Yet, you got to be cautious when talking to the Media since your version could at times be misinterpreted, jeopardizing your well-meaning intentions. It would not necessarily reflect what you really wanted to be conveyed and sometimes affect the entire community of PHIs, “General Shavendra Silva added.

He also pointed out that in the most recent weeks, there were about 900 cases per day but it has now dropped to some 500 cases per day, a marked decrease in the past few days. “So our strategic approaches have to continue,” he pointed out.

Sadly you were seen at a Birthday party of a VIP in the business circle held at a leading hotel in Colombo. In that video clip you are seen without wearing a face mask nor maintaining physical distancing. And Lord Mayoress of Colombo Rosie Senanayake was the same. It is understood that the woman responsible for organising the birthday bash happens to be a close friend of yours. Speculation is that many number of people who attended the function contracted Covid 19. However there is another similar video clip circulating "valentine" day celebrated by the same tycoon where this old man behaving silly trying to dance with his partner and her associates with the support of a carer to hold him to stay straight. This tycoon"s father who built his empire from ground level from the street must be turning in his grave. To come back to the point I would like to remind the SL army commander Savindra Silva in charge of Covid preventive campaign that "one must practice before enforcing the law
