State Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said today their allegiance to former President Maithripala Sirisena was limited to policies of the new alliance.

He said this in response to a question raised at a news briefing held at the SLPP head office in Battaramulla.

When asked how SLPP members engaged in harmony with Mr. Sirisena in the new alliance – Sri Lanka Nidhahas Podujana Sandhanaya, Mr. Abeywardena said their agreement with him was limited to policies of the new alliance.

“The former President has joined the new alliance which is open to everyone. There are policies in the alliance. We are in agreement with him solely to implement these policies,” he said. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
