Sri Lanka has the largest illegal prisons camp in the world detaining some 8000 political prisoners within them, University Lecturers for Democracy (ULD) member Professor Kumar David said quoting the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ).
Speaking at a press briefing held by the ULD a short while ago, Prof. David said that ex-army commander Sarath Fonseka is the most well known among other political prisoners which include thousands of Tamil youth who are detained without a warrant or any other legal provisions.

The way the things are happening, very soon number will exceed 10,000. In order to reserve enough space MR gave general amnesty and released almost 1000 prisoners recently.

Why only Tamils? Was Pradeep a Tamil? Is the General a Tamil? Let us look at the real danger, the violation of Human Rights and the Rule of Law in respect of all Citizens of Sri Lanka.
nanabst Wednesday, 06 October 2010 01:18 PM
We Sri Lanka has no political prisoners, who ever captured from LTTE such as fighters, Supporters, child solders, women fighters should be regarded as enemy combatant. They should not release unless a proper investigation is carried out and proven innocence. Sri Lanka not needs to listen to that western NGO mafia who tried to destroy our country for last 30+ years.
D Wednesday, 06 October 2010 01:28 PM
How do you define LTTE Carders....Any Tamil Youth or any one you has a different political view point? or Some one arrested evidence.....If it was evidence why aren't they prosecuted....Fine If they were LTTE Carders why aren't they integrated with the current rehabilitation programs...part is rehabilitated...part is kept it in remand custody as suspects....
Guess Mewan didnt see the full picture.
