Police said today that at least 550 persons who had travelled out of the Western Province prior to the curfew were found from Bandarawela, Batticaloa, Nuwara Eliya, Tangalle, Matara, Ampara and Jaffna areas.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said they have been directed to undergo 14-day quarantine where they are lodged at the moment such as in private hotels, state bungalows, guest houses and other places of accommodation.
He said they had travelled out of the Western Province on October 29 and 30.
“They will finish their quarantine period on November 12 and then we will take action against them under the quarantine law,” DIG Rohana said.
