Twenty-nine Advanced Level candidates were found positive with COVID-19 during the first three weeks of the examination, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said.
Addressing the media at the Education Ministry yesterday, he said during the first weeks of the examination six COVID -19 candidates tested positive. He said quarantine facilities were provided to 568 candidates during the examination.
“Twenty-seven infected candidates were admitted to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Angoda, one candidate to the Panagoda Army camp and another candidate to the Mulleriyawa hospital. They all faced the examination while receiving treatment at hospitals,” Minister Pieris said.
The Minister thanked all those who provided transport facilities for the candidates to examination centres in addition to officials of the health sector, all teachers, principals and others. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
