A total of 150,000 PCR tests have been carried out as of today to identify COVID-19 infected persons in the country, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.
She said 8,200 PCR tests were done on the people in the Kandakadu Cluster.
She also said the government has taken all necessary steps to avoid viral transmission among the members of the community through the cluster in relation to the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre.
“As a government we have taken every step possible to control and prevent COVID-19 transmission,” she said. (By Thisari Walawege)

What nonsense? It is all fake news for the sake of the coming elections. Can you prove it?
Observer Friday, 24 July 2020 07:46 PM

Lord Wolfstein Friday, 24 July 2020 07:58 PM

Way too low, less than 0.75% of the population.
Middle Class Friday, 24 July 2020 10:31 PM
Against a population of 21 million this is only 0.7%. This is a joke. For you it may be a strategic thing to do because of the election, but for the rest of the SL population it is their lives you are playing with.

PAVITHRA ARE YOU BOASTING OR DISAPPOINTED OF THIS ACHIEVEMENT. THE GENERAL PUBLIC CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE STANDARD SET BY HEALTH MINISTRY
Pekko Friday, 24 July 2020 11:19 PM
150 000 ! It means only maximum of 50 000 people have been tested so far... Because each person has to go for at least 3 tests theoretically....
roni Saturday, 25 July 2020 12:49 AM
Not bad Madam for 3 1/2 months, you must be proud of the achievement. Do not forget to watch international and you may be surprised to learn some countries do 40 to 50 thousand a day. If it is for marks b4 elections you may receive minus marks.

The health minister and the SLPP is hiding all the truth from the poeople. Otherwise why should EU continue ban on Lankans flying? On the other hand 150k PCR tests is nothing compared to the population of this country. Jokers

She should be sent to WHO to take over the Director Generals position or she should be sent to Oxford University to head the research team that developed the vaccine. she will find a better vaccine with her knowledge in medicine
Buddhist Saturday, 25 July 2020 07:06 PM
Total tests less than 0.75% of the total population, one of the lowest rate of tests conducted in the world.
