Range Bandara’s wife beaten

2012-08-18 07:01:49

The wife of UNP MP Palitha Range Bandara is currently receiving treatment at the Sri Jayawardenapura hospital, after she was said to have been assaulted by the MP

The incident had occurred following an argument with the MP this morning.

The UNP MP is currently giving a statement to the Mirihana police, sources said

Highly placed hospital sources said that the wife of the MP would remain in hospital for further investigations.

“She has been physically assaulted but there are no major injuries. We will be carrying out further medical examinations” the source said. Meanwhile MP Palitha Range Bandara has denied assaulting his wife.

“ There was an argument this morning and that was it. She has falsely gone and said that I assaulted her which is untrue. I didn’t assault her. She fell down and that is what she is making out to be as an assault” he said.

When asked if the MP was contemplating divorce he said that he had no such intention.

“ As the old Sinhala adage goes, domestic issues between husbands and wives last only until the pot of rice gets cooked.   “ Pawul prashna thiyenne batha idenakan withraine” –  so I have no intentions of divorce,” he said.( ISA)

this is the true side of the public servents today no matter which party, theya are. Just think a man who beats his wife no matter what ( there may be reasons but, ) is no suit for a public servant.

A woman beater should never be allowed anywhere near the public office. Public servants should be exemplary and patient.

So you beat your wife? "Hari loku wedak ne karala thiyenne obathuma". Next time when you get beaten up by some government thugs, please spare a thought for your wife.

Even if she is his legal wife, he has no right to beat her. People should reject such public servants.

This poor lady will no doubt recover but the fact remains that he assaulted another human being. No matter what the wrong, if any, she had done, he has no right to lay a hand on her.

This is how Sri lankan's settle their disputes. Beat the wife, friend. collegue, domestic helper, subordinates ....Alteast now the females are not shy to disclose these incidents. We are far away from lving in a civilised society. Unless we are prepared to live like civilised people, respecting fellow human beings Sri lanka will not improve. These are the things the religous leaders should discuss not the the theorotical Bana that is preached.

After beating the wife, who is physically a much weaker person, the (may become a minister one day), which itself is shameful act, the MP (May become a minister one day) is also talking about a divorce. Domestic violence in SL should be condemned and strict punishment should given if found guilty.

Husband and wife having difficulties. Why are we throwing stones from glass houses. We as a human species in this domain together.

Man and woman fundamentally not the same. Its hard marrying and try being like one. How can we be that which we are not ?

Besides marriage is the root of a lot of evil, such as divorce, divorce lawyers, fees, child custody, prostitution, extra marital affairs.....

Address the root cause, its marriage that is the problem !
