Farmers of Pamburana said that around 400 acres of paddy cultivation have been destroyed due to flooding. Most farmers have obtained bank loans to cultivate their paddy fields during ‘Maha’ season and currently they are unable to settle the loan installments. The situation has got aggravated when “Kahbiliya Oya” is swollen due to inclement weather. We contacted the District Secretary of Polonnaruwa Panduka Abeywardena to ascertain the situation of Pamburana farmers, he said no complaints have been received so far regarding the crop damage. He assured that he will monitor the situation.

However, the farmers who have been affected by inclement weather condition,  urged the government to provide relief measures.
