After announcing a series of tax concessions by the Government, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has revised the payment for registration and renewal fees of migrant workers with effect from December 1.

The SLBFE had made the announcement to the media yesterday with fixed registration and renewal fees.

It said after the price revision, the registration fee would be reduced to Rs.16,416 from Rs.17,837 while the renewal fee reduced to Rs.3,450 from Rs.3,755.
Following instructions of the President, the taxes levied on various goods and services had been revised with immediate effect.

Accordingly, the new caretaker government announced several tax concessions which included the annulment of the Nation Building Tax (NBT), Capital Gains Tax, Withholding Tax and the reduction of VAT to eight per cent from 15.

However, most of the tax restructuring came into effect from December 1.
