Intoxicant capsules seized in transit

• Van transporting intoxicant and Rs.31,500 were seized during the raid
• The 35-year-old suspect was a resident of Ratmalana

A quantity of 3750 capsules of an illegal intoxicant was seized in transit and a suspect arrested by the Mount Lavinia Crime Investigation Unit during a raid in Lunawa at Moratuwa. The van transporting the intoxicant and Rs.31,500 in cash, earned by selling the intoxicant were seized during the raid.   

The 35-year-old suspect was a resident of Ratmalana, who had been distributing the illegal intoxicant in the Wellawatte, Dehiwala, Ratmalana, Mount Lavinia, Lunawa, Moratuwa, Panadura, Piliyandala and Boralesgamuwa areas by van, with the help of several others. 

 
Police said they carried out the raid on information provided by a suspect who had earlier been taken into custody in connection with the racket. 

 
A Police team under OIC Crime Investigation Unit CI Pushpakumara Ferdinando, carried out the raid on the instructions of SSP Rohan Premaratne.
