By Deepal PereraSri Lanka says extremists groups from Pakistan have not had any kind of training in Sri Lanka. The dismissal came from Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to reports from a member of the Lakshar-e-Taiba terrorist outfit that he was trained in Colombo.
There are no extremist groups operating in Sri Lanka, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa told Daily Mirror online in response to the claims.
The External Affairs Ministry had said yesterday that Sri Lanka is in touch with the Indian authorities over claims by the Lakshar-e-Taiba terror suspect that he was trained in Colombo to carry out terrorist attacks on Indian soil.
The Defence Attache at the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi is already in discussions with the Indian Defence Authorities and a comprehensive report over the issue has been sought by the External Affairs Ministry in Colombo, External Affairs Ministry sources had told Daily Mirror online. This is an Indian conspiracy to increase their influence over us since they are scared that China is getting too close to Sl for their liking. Since they don't have as much money to give us as China they are resorting to the hardball tactics that they have been using for decades.
Is it because Sri Lanka is an economic giant?
Is it because Sri Lankan people are the most friendly people on planet Earth?
Please introduce a visa for all neighbouring countries including Indians.
Forget about this training accusation which is a lie but what about America funding Iraq, Iran and Lebanon at various times at different stages to stage war with each other. What about the NATO involvement? What about the Innocent people killed in Iraq and presently in Afghanistan and Pakistan?
These guys must shut up and let us grow in peace. I believe this is the wish of all of our people. Is there nothing that we can do as Citizens jointly.
Well said Mr. Gota
