India has urged Sri Lanka to look to the future with the war now over and the focus shifting towards development and reconciliation.

Speaking to a section of the general public during a visit to the Jaffna library this evening Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said that India has always focused on the wellbeing of the general public in Sri Lanka.

In her short interaction Rao said that India will extend its support to a democratic and united Sri Lanka.

The Indian Foreign Secretary had earlier visited the Menik Farm IDP camp in Vavuniya and will also meet government and opposition members as well as President Mahinda Rajapaksa during her stay in Sri Lanka. (Daily Mirror online)
