Security for Chennai HC

By Sherwani Synon

The Tamil Nadu government has provided security for the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission in Chennai which has come under threat from pro-LTTE elements and various other groups including Tamil political parties opposing the Sri Lankan government.

In the latest threat a Tamil Nadu political party has demanded that the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission in Chennai be closed over alleged attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy. The Sri Lankan Navy has however vehemently denied the charges.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai V. Krishnamoorthy told Daily Mirror online that with the end of the war Sri Lankan refugees in Tamil Nadu have begun to return to the island voluntarily.

The Deputy High Commissioner said that so far there is no organized program to send the refugees back to Sri Lanka but a large number of refugees have returned voluntarily. (Daily Mirror online)

Can't we provide our own security for our embassies ? TN will probably provide some ancient policemen with batons, where as we've got highly trained men right here.

So the LTTE is active in TN, and they want the DHC office closed, send Basil to meet Karunaneddhi, he could settle it or let the HE go there and do the needful

Why, the Indian governenment should know that the public of their country has right to express their feeling on the subject, like the sri lankan have. No need to give special protection to the mission of sri lankan.

These people need to be taught a lesson! The property of Deputy High Commissioner's office is part of Sri Lanka, who ever threatens it's boundaries must be considered a national security threat.

Looking the past performances of Krishnamoorthy and the one before him, Hamsa one would have no doubts why this anti Deputy High commission office in Chennai arose. Both were very undiplomatic.

Close up all interests in T.N. Also GOSL should reciprocate by not allowing any Indian interests in the North & Hambantota.
