A rivalry between one dancer and three other women dancers at an Indian Night club in Kollupitiya had led to a brawl which ended up in Court and all four women were reprimanded by Colombo Fort Magistrate.

In her complaint to the Kollupitiya Police, one of the dancer of the Indian Dancing Night club in Kollupitiya alleged that she was severely beaten by three other dancers while they were ready to perform one day last week.

She alleged that she was admitted to a hospital due to several bite injuries caused by three women who were members of the troupe.

Meanwhile, defence counsel who appeared for three suspects told Court that the complainant who was in jealousy over her clients’ performance had made a false complaint.

The defence counsel told that the rivalries between the women had been prevailing for a long time.

While ordering to release the three women on a surety bail of Rs.100, 000 each, Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage severely warned both the parties not to get involved in any more clashes and warned that he would not hesitate to take tough action against them if such an incident was reported again. If they had bitten out jealousy, Bite injuries must have been severe.

Biting is on the rise. Started with Boxing, then football, later monkey bites, now dancers bite. Please do not take our country for a bite.
