Principal arrested over student’s death in freak accident

The Principal of Raththota Dikkumbura Vidyalaya was arrested by the Raththota police after a student died following a fall from a Mango tree in the school premises.

The Principal was said to have been in Pinnawala when the incident occurred on June 27th Friday.

The student had succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Matale General Hospital.

The Principal was also alleged to have blamed the media for blowing the issue out of proportion. (Mahesh Keerthiratne)

    this is the picture of our schools and students. where is fare and similar education. you cant compate Royal college cbo or even st thomas Matale with this place. this is the nature of such students from these area. also it was the behaviour of childern. especially this area. there was a mistake. nobody could control.

    What has the Principal to do with the death due to fall from the tree? In future they should not have any trees in the School.

    Look like some teachers wanted the student to climb the tree and pick some mangoes from the tree in the school premises, just like a government MP who got her bodyguard cops to do household chores.
