Special vehicle for Fonseka

The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered the authorities to ensure General Sarath Fonseka is given special security and brought to Court in a special army vehicle and not the prison van as was done today.

The lawyer appearing on behalf of General Sarath Fonseka told the Magistrate today that despite an earlier order for special security for Fonseka, the detained General was transported to Court today in a prison van and not the special army vehicle.

The Magistrate then ordered that in future Fonseka be transported to Court in an army vehicle with tight security. Meanwhile the Magistrate also ordered that the family of General Fonseka be allowed to give him food as opposed to the prison food as he had medical complications.

Fonseka is in army custody over conspiracy charges and allegations of illegal arms dealings during his tenure as Army Commander.

The General is in Army custody and not in remand prison. Thus, there is no rational basis for him to taken to the Court in a prison bus. The Magistrate's order directing the Army to do that using an army vehicle with appropriate security is quite in order and lolgical.

The way they treat a war hero shows the caliber of these people.Let the courts decide whether he is guilty or not. Keep in mind that people are not deaf and blind.

Many write here Fonseka a hero. I never heard about heros who does arms deals, hide Son-in-law from courts, chair arms tender bords knowing his son in law is also a bidder, spend nice time in China on a holiday with whole family on a tour paid by Chinese arms dealer on the very crucial days of LTTE war whilst thousand of solderiers are getting killed in the front. Did you?

@ Jagath. Arms deals? Have they been proved? Besides SF, do you know any other people - Ministers, MPs, Chair persons of Corporations having holidays in China and other countries around the world?

Once the charges are found to be true, then you can talk. Just don't speculate.

So, you have heard of arms deals of non heroes? Report them, you patriot.!!!
