A driver of a medical officer lodged a complaint with the Narahenpita police yesterday against UNP MP Harsha De Silva for allegedly assaulting him over a land dispute in Longden place, Colombo, police said.

The driver had admitted himself to the hospital after lodging the complaint stating MP Silva had hit him on the head.

The dispute had arisen when the driver and his employer had attempted to clear a land adjoining that of the parliamentarian, the Police said.

Rejecting the allegations made by the driver, MP Harsha de Silva told daily mirror online the whole incident was a complete lie and the incident had been fabricated.

“There was a bulldozer adjacent to a land to my house and when I asked the driver what was happening he responded in an arrogant way. There were words exchanged, but I never hit him. This is a complete lie,” Dr. Silva said.

He said that he would take action against the false complaint.

Police said the complainant had upon receiving a receipt from the hospital, had left it thereafter.(DS &LP)

Election around, these things has to be expected especially for the oppositions. The driver knows that he is not in the ruling party.

It seems only a verbal assault. Harsha, is not a person of violent character.

This is the Democracy promised by the government.
1. Press false charges against opposition
2. Refuse legal rights to hold meetings of the opposition
3. Cover up all corruption charges on government stooges
and the list continues.
Is it a surprise at all that western countries blame us for violation of human rights?

Dr Harsha is a cultured man, belonging to the elite "tie-coat" karayas - these type of people dont resort to strong arm tactics..

It is probable the alleged driver was the heavy mob hired for the day to intimidate Dr. Harsha de Silva.
