The ailing mother of slain LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran, who was taken to Jaffna from Colombo yesterday, was hospitalized last evening, Tamil media reports in Jaffna said this morning.
Parvathi Pillai, who was earlier offered a temporary visa to India for medical treatment, was admitted to the Vellvetithurai hospital last evening.
Prabakaran’s mother was earlier in Malaysia but was brought down to Sri Lanka earlier this week and stayed at a lodge in Colombo. When Daily Mirror online visited the lodge this week she was bed ridden. (Daily Mirror online)

Sri Lanka Haritha Sandanaya
Hope she recovers and lives out the remainder of her life in peace.
This will be a good gesture and act of goodwill.
May the blessings of the triple gem and all the devas be with her and pray for speedy recovery.
Yes... We should & we shall.........
But, these Tamils are a Self centered Selfish lot of people. However much they receive or whatever is given or provided its not enough.
Wait and see, how they will begin to criticise treatment meted out to Velu's mother.
these Tamils want to get everything free from whereever they can. Thats their mentality. Whinning all the time.
I agree with you dagobert.. These tamils are very good at getting things for nothing. It's the same in the west where they are spreading. They get their housing, schools for children and many more benifits.. ALL FOR FREE. No wonder West is in economic crisis..

Sri Lankan government should take measures to give best medical treatments here or abroad. That will be more professional and (more than anything ) Sri Lankan indeed.
Talking of the past where she could not influence her son to change his mind now has no relevance.
DEAR TAMIL DIASPORA: WHERE R U NOW? OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE FOR YOUR SELF THE FACT. SRI LANKA IS A GREAT COUNTRY. AT LEAST NOW START PROMOTING FOR THE BETTERMENT.
It is great to see all the compassion here.
It is so heartening to see the comments of Sinhalese people here. I am not looking at Sri Lankan people as Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims, but this is something that needs to be highlighted and will help towards eliminating racist thinking.
She is like my mother.
God bless her.
Let's not forget the fact we were all created by ONE GOD & Just because of her son's behavior we cannot totally blame the mother.
I totally agree our parents are sure the fundamental institution for our upbringing but at the same time EACH ONE OF US HAVE A CHOICE. They show us the right and wrong but if we decide to take the wrong path who is to be blamed?
On behalf of the tamil community I apologise for all the trouble caused in the past years. I WISH WE CAN TRUE LIVE UP TO THE SAYING "SRI LANKA LAND LIKE NO OTHER" Why cant we respect and treat each other as ONE in CREATION. If each one of us respect each other simply for the fact they are human beings and not tamils, sinhalese, burgars, Malays, English, Black whatever for that matter this world would sure be a better place.
I've never had any issues with my sinhalese friends and we have got along just like brothers. WHY CANT WE ALL BE THE SAME?
in UK - Osama bin Laden's stepsons wife who is a british woman is harrased by neighbours and authorities and had to leave the country!
And they preach us human rights!!!
One LTTE carder seeing the baby and hot oil pan, in minutes Baby was thrown in to the oil very brutally,
Remembering this I had a resentful thought but then I went to the article and saw this Women and felt sad. Its funny how this human mind works!!
If this mother had any say for her son to stop the killing of innocent, then the current govt should listen to ppls of the country and release illeagally detained SF.
At least she is lucky to get proper treatment, when SF can't even get proper doctors...
