Praba’s mom hospitalized

The ailing mother of slain LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran, who was taken to Jaffna from Colombo yesterday, was hospitalized last evening, Tamil media reports in Jaffna said this morning.

Parvathi Pillai, who was earlier offered a temporary visa to India for medical treatment, was admitted to the Vellvetithurai hospital last evening.

Prabakaran’s mother was earlier in Malaysia but was brought down to Sri Lanka earlier this week and stayed at a lodge in Colombo. When Daily Mirror online visited the lodge this week she was bed ridden. (Daily Mirror online)

It is a slap on the face of Indian arrogance. You cant hang dead old Parvathi Pillai for the crimes of Velupillai Prabakaran. If that is the rule all the Congress party Indians should be hanged for the crimes of IPKF in Jaffna. She is a old women now. What Sri Lanka should do is to treat her with the best care on government funds. It will be good example to show the world that Sri Lanka is a free thinking country. Or we can choose to blame her with all the words we know for the bloodthrust of her Son to show that we are too arrogent like the ruling class in India.

Poor lady. After all the sadness she had to endure because of that beastly son of her's, it must have broken her heart. I dont think any mother would like to have given birth to a harbringer of death and destruction.

She should not be paying for the sins of Prabakarn. I am sure the Government or someone or an institution will come forward to help her get the best medical attention in Colombo or Kandy.

This will be a good gesture and act of goodwill.

Govt look after them until her daughter gave permission to a TNA MP to takecare of her. She was taken to a daughter in Malasiya. May be the VP's siblings do not want to look after her. Her pension from SL government is not enough for them. She is a Sri Lankan. Let her live and die Sri Lankan

Please all the above commentors remember that the captives who were in LTTE custody till the end of war (ARMY, NAVY personal) were looked after well and released with humanity.. They were not killed or tortured for what their government did to tamil people.. you can talk to any of the personal who were released to ask how they were looked after.. be honest when you make comments.. and don't just write your comment based on your anger on LTTE

I do respect that she is a mother BUT she is not superior to any other mother from the north/south east or west. As a Sri Lankan citizen I find this situation to be extremely sad. I woudln't wish even my worst enemy to be in this state. From a humanitarian point of view no one should be treated like dirt.
Let's not forget the fact we were all created by ONE GOD & Just because of her son's behavior we cannot totally blame the mother.
I totally agree our parents are sure the fundamental institution for our upbringing but at the same time EACH ONE OF US HAVE A CHOICE. They show us the right and wrong but if we decide to take the wrong path who is to be blamed?

I went straight to read comments, As I was reading I remembered how her son killed innocent Men women and children, one striking memory came to me when LTTE butchered a Sinhala village there was a infant crying, nearby there was a hot oil pan because the mother had been preparing food at that time
One LTTE carder seeing the baby and hot oil pan, in minutes Baby was thrown in to the oil very brutally,

Remembering this I had a resentful thought but then I went to the article and saw this Women and felt sad. Its funny how this human mind works!!

We Sri Lankanas consider she as a mother of any one of us. She must be regretting having a son like VP. Now forget everything and we will look after her. I am sure our President being a very kind hearted person will offer her the best medical attention available in the Island by bringing her to Colombo. We Sri Lankans living abroad ready to finance her medical bills if requested.
