The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team – Coordination Centre (Sri Lanka CERT—CC) said that they had received “4 to 5 complaints of hacking from state institutions.”

Speaking to Daily Mirror, spokesman for the countries cyber protection agency said all reported cases were of minor incidents of hacking.

“They were all very minor incidents of hacking. We got around 4 to 5 complaints regarding hacking and we have managed to secure the websites for them. There have also been many requests for assistance by state institutions as a precautionary measure and we have taken steps to provide them with all assistance,” he said.

The spokesman also said that the recent hacking of the website of the Media Centre for National Security was not reported to the centre.
“Some institutions have their internal mechanisms, so they tackle these issues and the MCNS issue is a good example of it,” he said. (Hafeel Farisz)
