these are desperate psychos without the manhood to start a relationship with a woman. Real Men attract women.losers rape simply because no woman is willing to even stand close to such useless creatures. These 'men' are not men they are actually two legged animals who can speak and do not possess a brain. Human rights should not apply to them.

@PRASANNAJIT.., Not exactly. Unlike India, Rape is not common and frequently happening in Srilanka. In India, deeply rooted cast system too helps such incident to be happened in a frequent manner....! Specially, "gang violence" are there but " gang rapes" are isolated incidents in Srilanka.

Rape is NOT common and frequently happening in Sri Lanka? Are you seriously living here or elsewhere? Rape is very common in SL, unfortunately the stats don't reveal the correct numbers because the victims do not complain or reveal they have been raped due to political, cultural and social issues. Whether it's a gang rape or not, rape is rape and a very common occurrence in SL.

Yes, when you compare the population, our rape rate is much higher. Like you have mentioned the victims don't complain because they know how these defending lawyers question the victim.

Lets not fool ourselves that we are better or worse than India only because of the socio-family stigma that prevents these crimes against our women & children go unreported?! Thanks only to the press these are even known and strong action needs to be taken. Right now much publicity is given to this in India and fast-track courts established and Laws being amended for quick action/deterrent. Suggest you watch NDTV 24/7 for their excellent investigative action with not even powerful politicians spared!

Rape is Rape, Gang rape or otherwise, read the papers, at least one rape case, the authorities should take a survey over a period of time, get the opinion of the victims about punishment, I am sure 100% death penalty will be the answer.

During the past weeks it was the comments against the Shariyah law after beheading of Rizana Nafeek, Take this incident, five people raped an elderly person of 45 years, and can you imagine a lesser punishment other than the beheading for this grave crime. This lady will suffer psychologically for ever hence Shariyah is not a barbaric law as it portrayed in the Media by some Extreme group. It’s the law for the protection of Human rights and to have a society of Justice.
