120 LG members will resign- Berty

Former North Central Province Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake said that 120 UPFA local government members of the Anuradhapura district will resign if he is not appointed Chief Minister of the council.

Referring to the resignation and subsequent declaration by Minister S.M Chandrasena to the effect that his brother S.M Ranjith was assured to be the next Chief Minister, Dissanayake said that it was only a declaration by the minister and not a decision of the party.

“That is what he is saying but the party has not taken any decision to that effect” he said.

Dissanayake also said that in the event S.M. Ranjith is appointed Chief Minister he would not accept any ministerial portfolios.

“I will sit independently in the council and won’t accept any ministerial portfolio in the event he is appointed” he said.( Athula Bandara)

Why do you even expect that you will be appointed as CM? Who ever got more preferences would be appointed as CM. That’s why an election was held. Leadership is not an eternal thing. What you are supposed to do is supporting your new CM. swallow your pride Berty. Be humble to accept your loss. Work hard for 4 years and get people’s vote and become next CM. That’s the way isn’t it?
