Two CDF officers killed in accident

Three Civil Defence Force officers on a motorcycle collided head-on with a lorry at Pitakumbura in Bibile a short while ago. Three officers had been on the motorcycle when the accident occured.Two  motorcyclists died on the spot while the other was admitted to the Badulla Hospital in a serious condition.

The three officers were on their way from Bibile to Inginiyagala when they met with accident. (Prasanna Padmasiri)

Now, three civil defense officers on a motorcycle. Is that right? My understanding of the law is that you can have two on the motorcycle and if there is a sidecar, which is rarely seen these day.

This is what happens when you overload a motor cycle, the machine is designed to carry a certain load and when overloaded the rider looses it"s full control. Not observing the traffic laws may have contributed to this fatal accident .It is high time the police take action to stop this dangerous travel on motor cycles

When VIPs have more than 30 vehicles each these poor officers had to travel on one bike which is wrong but maybe they had to for want of proper transport.

Our country has different laws which are applicable to its citizens by profession, affluence and circumstances. I'm sure that the lorry driver is behind bars and getting the works now for killing two angels and injuring another. My sympathies with the families of those who died. But the lorry driver should be set free after the mandatory court hearing.
