No SLAF personnel training in TN-India

E-mail Print
Indian Government had allowed Sri Lankan Air Force personnel to undergo training in Tamil Nadu, but at present none of them are being trained in the state, government told the Rajya Sabha today.

In a written reply to a question, Defence Minister A K Antony said, "At present no personnel of the Sri Lankan Air Force is undergoing training in Tamil Nadu."

The Minister replied in the affirmative on whether government had allowed Sri Lankan Air Force personnel to undergo training in Tamil Nadu.

The training of the Lankan personnel by India came in the line of fire from political parties in Tamil Nadu over the issues of ethnic Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The Defence Minister further informed the House that, "The views expressed by various (political) parties have been considered by the government keeping in view all aspects of national interest."

Following the protest from various political parties, the under-training Lankan personnel were shifted to Bangalore.

Around 15 Sri Lankan trainees were undergoing various courses at the two airmen training institutions in Tambaram in Tamil Nadu when the controversy broke off. (PTI)

buffaloa you seem to have a massive chip on your shoulders. Your hatred is clouding your views making them all very one-sided and somewhat nonsensical.

Our Forces defeated the LTTE, something the IPKF could not do. So maybe India should be coming here for training?

Sangeeth - Pakistan can afford to be a perceived good friend because they are located far away from SL and have not proximity issues. Wonder how it would have been if they were next door neighbours to SL. There would have been different kind of terrorists at its door step.

Stop sending our guys to India who is slowly becoming a stooge of the US. Pakistan, China & Russia will welcome us with open arms.

why can't you train your airmen yourself, always creating problems for India and talking of China and Pakistan
SL policy seems to be anyone gives anything free, we will be there to take it.
And after all these there are elements in the Sl govt. who claim we won the war without anyone's assistance.
Ask MR to go in front of the Indian media and say that instead of saying to the gallery in front of a home crowd

Dont take much notice of TN as barking dogs wont bite. As long as the centre is is OK with GOSL we need not worry.

Isn't this a case of the tail wagging the head? Just because TN has the clout does not make everything they do politically or morally correct.

Why send our boys for training in that dirty, squalid state of TN or, anywhere in India? India has stabbed Sri Lanka in the back! Our friends China, Russia and Pakistan have better trained air force pilots and superior technology. Chinese forces are capable of demolishing India and cut it into dozen pieces. To hell with Singh, Sonia, Jayalalita and Karunanidhi.
