E-mail Print
Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake’s coordinating secretary who had been wanted in connection with a fraud and evading court, surrendered before Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ruwandika Marapona who remanded him till July 27.

It is alleged that the cheques amounting to Rs. One million issued by the suspect to two private establishments had been dishonored for want of funds. Anuradhapura magistrate’s court had issued five open warrants to arrest the suspect, but the Anuradhapura police had failed to arrest him.

However consequent to media reports on police inaction due to political pressure, he surrendered to court through his lawyers. (Upali Ananda)
