UNP claims Police 'crippled'

UNP spokesperson Gayantha Karunathilake claimed that the Sri Lankan police are crippled and that the government’s promise to stabilize the law of this country has been broken, pushing the country into turmoil.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the spokesperson said, “Everyone has come to realize that the crime rate of this country is increasing day by day. Although the police are capable of overcoming crime, they are crippled. The government came into power by promising the public that law and order of this country will be stabilized. Instead, the country is pushed into a precipice.” He said.

Karunathilake provided examples such as the Katuwana murders, the robberies of the Museum and the robbery of the house of Sri Lankan Airlines’ (SLA) chairman. “The criminals responsible for the Katuwana murders were under the protection of the government. Any small child can understand that. The police could not do anything until he finally came to courts and gave himself up like a bollywood superstar. Criminals like these are spread all over the island now.” He said.

He further said in regards to the Colombo museum and SLA chairman’s house robbery, “We all saw that the police are capable to apprehend suspects instantly when it came to the SLA chairman’s robbery case, but the robbers who stole our national treasures from the museum are still at large.” He said.

The spokesperson pointed out that the public now knows the inabilities of this government and the UNP will continue to inform the public further more. (NC)

UNP is also in a state of serious illness...unable to make a positive impact on these very important issues...at least JVP has done something.
