Nepali nabbed and remanded

Kandy High Court Judge Manilal Waidyatilleke commending Court Sergeant A. Amarasinghe for the timely arrest of a Nepali national, who was indicted for possessing 80 grammes of heroin, ordered that the suspect be remanded. 

He was absconding Court though he was to reappear in Courts on June 20.

Police Sergeant Amarsinghe having learnt that the suspect was about to leave the country, he swiftly   arrested him at Bowalawatte and produced him in Courts June 21.

The Nepali national was initially arrested by Narcotics Bureau officials at a luxury hotel in Kandy and released on bail. A warrant was issued for his arrest since he did not appear in courts on June 20.  (L.B.Senaratne)
