Wijeweera’s in-law complains of breach of trust

A man who is alleged to have committed criminal breach of trust involving a motorbike and a digital camera belonging to former JVP leader Rohana Wijeweera’s brother-in-law was today remanded till July 6 by a Colombo Court.

In a complaint to the Fort police, Dr. Subash Chandra Fernando said his driver Upali Gunasekara had failed to return his digital camera worth Rs.900,000 and a motorcycle worth Rs.300,000 that were loaned to the driver on June 5 on the undertaking he would return them.

The Fort police arrested the driver and recovered the valuable items in his possession.

When the driver was produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, the police said investigations were completed.

Meanwhile, the suspect informed Court that he would not lay claim for items, which were then ordered to be released to t Dr. Fernando. The suspect was remanded till July 6. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
